        The
Renaissance Cafe - one of the best indie venues in Toronto
          -
is closing its doors on Saturday May 9, 2009
          as Randal Clark retires.
Dozens of artists who have graced the stage over the past eight years
are gathering to pay tribute with three consecutive nights of music,
song, poetry and comedy featuring some of Toronto's unique voices.
Toronto-area fans know the way to this fine friendly
home of roots music and spoken word. As Norm's concert home in Toronto
for several years, it was also the natural choice for the memorial celebration
of Norm's mom Kathy O. Hacking and then Norm's own overflowing memorial
          on December 6, 2007.
Owner-manager Randal Clark created a beautiful
welcoming atmosphere for performers and audiences, and we'll miss him
and our musical home. Join his friends in thanking him in music and
spoken word as he retires. Frequent event hosts joined to organize the
final week's events involving dozens of performers.
There will be a guest book available at all these
          events.
Those who can't attend may send messages to Randal:
randal (at) renaissancecafe (dot) ca - make into email address
Are you interested in buying the business and renting the space?
Note that Randal is not organizing the performers for these events.

and feature an eclectic line-up of music, poetry and comedy with some
          very special guests.
The evening includes a tribute to Norm
          with Marianne
Girard, Glen Hornblast, Michael Laderoute (tbc)
and Norm's manager Shirley Gibson (reading his masterful prose).
Many of the other performers Friday and Saturday were also regulars
at Norm's evenings at the Renaissance and on other occasions.
